Are you coming to BlytheCon?

The first Blythe Convention is being held in Atlanta GA this year on October 17th. Although this event has been solely planned by Blythe fans and has no participation of Blythe manufacturer Takara, the excitement and the buzz is unbelievable.

It is a one day only event, but fans and collectors from far and wide are visiting. I know of friends who will be here from South America, Europe and of course the whole of North America. And of course there will be guest attendees, including Gina Garan.

There will be raffles, prizes, vendors, room sales and the works. And although small and not anything near the grand galas that we are used to hearing about with the other doll lines, this will definitely be a fun event. This will also be the first doll convention that I will be attending, which makes me even more excited. We will have live coverage of the event at DollyDaily so, don't forget to check the forums.

The Newest Prima Dolly

I was not supposed to fall for her, I was not going to pamper this frenzy over dolls that are underproduced and overpriced. Oh, how I failed!

I did resist though, for a very long month. And then I had to get Prima Dolly Tokyo home. She was offered in a release of 1500 only, which is miniscule in terms of Blythe production and demand numbers. She was also with the new Fairest BLythe (FBL) mold. Hence the frenzy and the prices.

But boy, am I glad that I got her! Now just because she is pretty and cute and I have the latest mold but because I think in her I found my dolly muse. Only time will tell.

The Circle of Love

When I started out collecting the strange little bigheaded dolls named "Blythe" last year, little did I know what I was getting into. I thought I would just try one and made sure to find one that was not very popular, hence quite affordable and well ... let's put it this way ... hopefully the least damaging to my wallet in case I did not take fondly to her.

The package arrived, I tore it open and then I gasped at the size of that head. My better half almost jumped when I displayed her in the hopes of getting some reassurance and approval. She did not fit in anywhere in my collection which was then full of glamrous supermodels with perfectly proportioned bodies. So she sat on my study desk and simply stared.

And then that shy, lonely thing grew on me. Before long I was buffing her up, buying her clothes, painting her lips and playing with her. It was almost like I was revisiting my childhood. Now, my Blythe family has grown. So has my circle of friends, online and in real life, all through the one common thread ... the love for our Blythes.

Oh yes, Blythe has grown quite a following in our forum as well. You should definitely check out all the fabulous girls and their proud parents.

And finally, if you have not tried adopting a Blythe yet, I ask you to give it a shot. Who knows, maybe she will change your life in unexpected ways, just like she did mine.
