I finally completed my Edward Cullen doll. I <3 him in the biggest way. He's a Taeyang doll (Pullip's boyfriend). I thought it was appropriate that he make his debut on the DVD debut, March 21st, of the Twilight movie. He seems to be getting lots and lots of attention from me right now, and has moved to the top of the list in my collection. He's my first custom, but had lots of help -- I had his clothing custom made.
I posted some bigger pics in the Dolly Daily community, and I'm sure to post even more. Just waiting for the moment to inspire me. Gosh, who knew that the Twilight saga would grab hold of me the way it did. As a late bloomer (just discovered the series in Feb 09), I quickly became addicted from page 1, fell in love with all 4 books, fell in love with the movie, and now I'm hoping for more. :-)

Hair styling chat
Please join us at 9pm (eastern) on Thursday, March 19th in the DollyDaily chat room (available in the DollyDaily community) for a "How to style your doll's hair" chat by marinav305.
Marinav305 participated in the haircutting "how to" chat last month and had shared lots of photos of her dolls restyled. After lots of "ooohs" and "aaahs" she volunteered to host a chat on how to achieve those same results. The chats are all-kinds-of-fun. Please check the "how to" forum in the DollyDaily community for more information on what supplies you'll need to participate.

"Gal on the Go" Barbie doll
My new "Gal on the Go" silkstone Barbie doll arrived over the weekend; she's the official Barbie Fan Club (BFC) doll. I'm so excited to get her. This year's Barbie Fashion Model Collection (BFMC) silkstone dolls are all about updating Barbie doll's vintage classics. I love the "Busy Gal" homage. Later this year, Mattel is coming out with updated silkstone versions of Gay Parisienne, Plantation Belle, Solo in the Spotlight, the very first Barbie doll in her black and white maillot, and possibly more.

I love her jet bubble cut hair style and the glittery violet eyeshadow. One of my favorite features of this lovely "gal" is that her earrings are easily removed. In prior years, Mattel had a U-shaped prong for her earring post, and then later moved to a post with a ball at the end of it to keep the earrring in her head. I'm so glad that they finally (FINALLY!) switched to the basic earring post. It's so easy.
I can't wait for the rest of the collection to begin shipping. This is beginning to look like a terrific year for Barbie doll's 50th Anniversary.

Integrity debuts their 2009 collection
Last night at the W Hotel in NYC, Integrity Toys hosted their "W at the W" 2009 Toy Fair event.
Fashion Royalty: Future.Perfect collection Spring 2009. 4 basic dolls & 4 Premium dolls (2 of which are a new character called Dania). The Nu.Face collection is "On The Fringe" and features Takeo, Lukas, Erin, Giselle, and Eden all dressed "on the fringe" of fashion. There lots to see of new Gene dolls, AvantGuards, Dynamite Girls, and a new collection called Poppy Parker, a new take on vintage 60s fashion. We've got loads of photos from several attendees in the DollyDaily community. Please stop by and check them out. Thank you to our trusted DollyDaily scouts who attended the event and reported back with the goods. We LOVE YOU for all of your efforts. It's time to make those lists and get your preorders ready.

Doll haircutting tutorial
Join us Thursday, February 12th at 9pm eastern (6pm pacific) in the Dolly Daily chatroom (accessible in the Dolly Daily Community) for a doll haircutting tutorial and chat. Lea has been gracious enough to host a haircutting seminar on one of her Bratz dolls, but any doll will suffice. She has already posted the necessary supplies and a few instructionals in the "how to" forum of the Dolly Daily community.

Barbie doll celebrates her 50th Anniversary
2009 marks Barbie doll's 50th anniversary. I'm so excited to be a doll collector during this time. I hope that Mattel knocks our socks off with a bevy of releases that honor the original teenage fashion model.
Here's a pic I recently took of an original #1 blonde Barbie doll from 1959. She's modeling Gay Parisienne, one of the original outfits available from that same year. In this ensemble Barbie doll exudes the fashion, style, and elegance of the late 1950s. She gave children everywhere a glimpse into a world of modeling, jet-setting, and glamour right in their very own homes.
Without Barbie doll, the concept of the modern fashion doll might be considerable different. My sincere thank you to everyone at Mattel in the late 1950s and early 1960s, to the creators of the Bild Lilli doll, to Ruth Handler, to Charlotte Johnson, and everyone involved in bringing Barbie doll to life. It just wouldn't be the same without her.
I've begun a thread in the Dolly Daily community photo forum where I will continue on with my year-long photo tribute to Barbie doll.

Integrity announces a new Dynamite Girl
A new member has joined the Dynamite Girls from Integrity Toys. Her name is TJ, and she's just in time for Valentine's Day. According to Integrity, this new girl comes in both caucasian and african-american vinyl tones. Each version is limited to 500 pieces and retails for $45 US. Authorized Dynamite Girls retailers are taking orders now. As an added bonus, each doll comes packaged with a tiny teddy bear.

The Dynamite Girls just keep getting bigger and better, and Integrity designer David Buttry continues to WOW us with is vision. In the last year, we've seen the introduction of four new characters, Rufus Blue, Sooki, Eltin, and now TJ (it's important to note that Sooki and Eltin both share the same face mold). I can't wait to see what the rest of 2009 has in store for us.
