A brand new band of dolls

Say hello to the Mixis, a group of mixed race women with realistic bodies. Created by the Toronto based YNU group, there are four women in the first batch, Rosa, Emerald, Opal, and Houda. Each have features and skin tones mixed from two or more racial groups.

All Mixis™ dolls celebrate the beauty and richness of multiracial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. To allow for the broadest interpretation, the dolls are not identified by race or ethnicity, but capture a multihued palette of skin tones, eye colors, facial features, clothing and accessories. The full range of dolls — Amber, Amethyst, Coral, Diamond, Houda, Emerald, Opal, Rosa, Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz and Turquoise — “have character in their faces,” according to Founder and President Debbie Goodland of YNU Group. “They are not a carbon copy of an ideal. They represent a variety of ethnic groups and they say to the world, ‘We are just as important as everyone else.’”

You can find the details about these dolls at YNU's website.

Thanks for this post, Capote!

I have photos of the Mixis at my blog and elsewhere. Fadano, here, also has photos. Any other Mixis fans out there, please share your photos.

Here's a link to some of my Mixis posts showing the Mixis dolls with other playscale dolls and action figures, swapping clothes with others, etc.

The more Mixis collectors there are, the greater the likelihood that the other dolls in this terrific series will be produced.

Thanks in advance for looking,

Dana aka D7ana
